New Zealand Travel Visa

You need a travel/tourist visa to stay as a tourist in New Zealand. However, in some cases you need require visa to enter New Zealand as a tourist. If you are an Australian citizen traveling on an Australian passport or an Australian resident with a current Australian resident return visa or you are a citizen of the country that has a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand then you need not require a visa to enter the country as a tourist.

New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement with Andorra, Bahrain, Brunei, Chile, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Luxembourg, Mexico, Portugal, Norway, San Marino, Slovak Republic, UAE, Spain, Vatican City, Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Korea (South), Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Monaco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Sweden, United States of America, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Kuwait, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland and Uruguay.

People coming from visa-free countries need to quality for certain conditions listed below in order to enter New Zealand

• Visa waiver may not be applicable to you if you travel under a non-citizen's passport issued by any of these countries.
  
  
• Visa waiver is applicable to you if and only if you are a resident of Hong Kong traveling on Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or British National (Overseas) passports.
  
  
• If you are from Portuguese, then you must have the right to live permanently in Portugal for a visa-free entry.
  
  
• If you are from Greece, then your passport should be issued on or after 1^st January 2006.
  
  
• If you are British Citizen or have the British passport with the right to reside permanently in UK then you can visit New Zealand for up to six months without a visa.
  
  

New Zealand's tourist visa authorizes you to stay in the country for a maximum period of nine months. However, if you belong to any of the visa-free countries, then your tourist visa is valid only for a period of three months except for United Kingdom.

New Zealand Visitor Visa

If you do not belong to the visa-free country or if you wish to extend your stay beyond the stipulated three months period for visa-free countries, then you will need to apply for a visitor visa to enter New Zealand.

Documents required for Visitor Visa

• Passport that is valid for three months beyond the actual date of travel.
  
  
• Visitor visa application duly signed by the passport holder
  
  
• If you intend to meet your partner who is living either temporarily or permanently in New Zealand, then your partner must complete the partners supporting partnership-based temporary entry application form.
  
  
• You will have to provide a temporary entry x-ray certificate to the consulate if you intend to stay in New Zealand for more than six months.
  
  
• If you wish to stay for more than a year, then you will have to provide a complete medical and x-ray certificate.

However, x-rays are not required either for pregnant women or for children under the age of 11 years unless the situation demands.
